Bed socks, at last

Phew, finally finished these. I love the yarn. Like the result. Why, then, did I manage to knit these for several months? Well, the pattern stitch was somewhat frustrating: too simple to keep a knitter amused, but easy to make annoying mistakes when not concentrating on knitting. Grrr…
Thinner yarn would produce lovely daytime kneehighs. But I have hard time to imagine other shaping than going down with needle size with this pattern.
I like the slouchy leg for bedtime socks, but some ribbing behind the ankle would have been nice to keep the heel at place.
Pattern closeup. Gonna change those ribbons to velvet ones, when I find right one. Pattern was a true yarn consumer - had to buy some more yarn, from different lot. Colour difference is easy to spot, fortunately I managed to disguise the join to pattern change on toe.
Pattern: Bed Socks from Romantic Style (Jennie Atkinson). I guess this is the same book than Beads, buttons and lace, this is way cheaper (in Finland, at least).
Yarn: Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk dk, MMMM, just over 3 balls, EEEK!
Needles: 3,5 mm
Adjustments: Didn’t like the heel (too low, ugly) of the pattern, end up frogging it. So, below the ankle the pattern comes from my head. Yarn is not the same, actually the needles are not what the pattern tells…

Those are beautiful! I just ordered that book too! Are these socks similar to Anna with no shaping? I have this think for knee socks lately, and I have shapely calves……
They are lovely!

Yep, no shaping. This pattern is very stretcy. To fitting socks i suggest to make the top part as tight as possible and then go down with needle size for ankle. With advised amount of stitches and 3,5 mm needles the leg is pretty loose, even from top.

[...] you actually need two tones of yarn. I had nearly one ball Cashmere Merino Silk as lefover from my bed socks. The colour is white. I’m slowly counting one plus one - wow, what if I dyed a small portion [...]
